Job Title: Systems Engineer – Splunk with VM and Linux
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Position Type: Contract

This Engineer opportunity is a newly created role with a Fortune 50 company in the Greater Philadelphia Area! They are looking for an individual to monitor Java based applications and be able to provide solutions. In addition, Engineers in this capacity will work with departments such as:
1. Network, Infrastructure
2. Database
3. Application Engineering
4. Development Operations.
Key Accountabilities
Development Operations:
· Identify & prioritize software performance issues to improve code base performance, reduce resource consumption and shorten request latency.
· Use Splunk to create application monitoring dashboards, reports & alerts for production operations.
· Provide for end-to-end root cause analysis and reporting on production incidents.
Performance Analysis
· Create application performance models & identify key-performance indicators
· Identify & Report application performance across production applications through weekly reporting to Executive Teams and Domain Leads.
Capacity Planning:
· Design tests to determine scaling & cost analysis across all production applications
· Run capacity and performance experiments to determine scaling and utilization parameters for various service tiers.
· Create capacity planning, cost analysis models & roadmaps for weekly reporting to Executive Teams and Domain Leads.
· Identify & Prioritize infrastructure related capacity issues work with the appropriate teams to analyze & provide remediation planning.
Must have:
· Splunk experience
· Scripting experience (Shell, Javascript)
· VM/Virtualization, VCenter
· Systems Administration skills in Unix/Linux
· Ability to gather data and run analysis
