Systems Engineer
Direct-Hire (On-Site) WFH 1 day per week.
Position Summary:
The Information Technology Systems Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing systems infrastructure and business software applications. This position supports both internal and external business partner technology environments.
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in an IT environment administering and supporting systems infrastructure
- Minimum of 3 years of experience administering Microsoft Windows servers
- Strong understanding of Active Directory architecture and administration.
- Proficiency in VMware ESXi and vCenter management.
- Experience with SAN technologies and data storage management.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services and infrastructure
- Valid Illinois Class D Driver’s License
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field
- Knowledge of PowerShell and/or other applicable scripting languages
- Prior experience in a cloud-first environment

Essential Duties and Functions:
- Design, configure, secure, and manage applications and systems as needed and assigned including but not limited to the following:
- Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, and Windows servers
- VMware systems
- Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Azure systems
- Storage Area Network (SAN) systems
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining multi-site technology network/server operations, software applications, and operating systems
- Assist in the maintenance, patching, and support of server and workstation OS and application software
- Administer and support telephony, mobile, video, and wireless systems
- Implement and maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies
- Respond to inquiries from internal staff, service providers, and Member staff for technical assistance and support
- Perform after-hours software and equipment installation/maintenance and respond to after-hours equipment/service interruptions. Some travel is required
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution
- Create and maintain application and system documentation
- Resolve help desk tickets as assigned
- Serve as a subject matter expert for NERC CIP standard requirements
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend improvements to the IT infrastructure
- Ensures compliance to standards for all systems administered
- Other duties as assigned by management
