Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Systems Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Cloud Platform experience to support the Operational Command and Control (C2) Acquisition Delta Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) team, located at USSF Space Systems Command (SSC) in El Segundo, CA. The C2 Acquisition Delta oversees the software and architecture development within the C2 Joint Capability Areas (JCAs). A successful candidate should be a self-starter who possesses initiative, excellent communication skills, the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and how is a proven problem solver.  

Job responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:   

• Platform Engineering liaison performing cross-cutting analysis of various software products/applications being developed and delivered to unique customers 

• Managing systems engineering activitiesthroughout the cloud platform development and implementation 

• Developingcustomer requirements and architecture risk analysis assessments 

• Developing software engineering processes and procedures to support cloudinfrastructures and platforms 

• Engagingacross multiplestakeholder, developer teams with the Government and industry 

• Identifying, capturing and tracking capabilities and requirements relationships and inter-dependencies across the enterprise, and providing recommendations based on analysis and systems engineering best practices  

• Providingcloud platform expertise supporting proposed technical baseline changes in areas such as capabilities development document (CDD) and mission impact analysis, inter-pendency impacts, prioritization, and implementation plans  

• Supporting the development and maintenance of integration roadmap artifacts,and capturingenterprise-wide program’s key events and integration/test activities to aid in communications and decision making  

• Functioning within an Agile development environment and adhere to industry best practices 

• Supporting the development of DoDAF viewpoints and models  

• Supporting integration activities and discussions that extend beyond the C2 Acquisition Delta (i.e.NRO, MDA, DAFRCO, SpRCO, SpOC Mission Area Teams, etc.)  

• Providing technical expertise and systems integration support to customers 

• Performing systems engineering and program management functions in support of major reviews, technical evaluations, and requirements verification   

Required: 

• 15 years of relevant DoD/IC or relevant industry work experience  

• 8 years of systems engineering experience 

• At least 2 years of Special Access Programs (SAP) and/or TS/SCI experience  

• Demonstrated experience with database management tools (DOORS, Access, Jira, Confluence SQL)  

• Familiarity with Platform as a Service (PaaS) 

• Experience with App2Cloud and Kubernetes (K8s) 

• Familiarity with commercial cloud computing platforms: AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud 

• Experience in the implementation and management of Cloud Platform solutions 

• Familiarity with DevSecOpsContinuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines executing in parallel  

• Good knowledge of cloud architecture, communications, and agile development methodologies 

• Experience with aspects of systems engineering such as requirements elicitation, analysis, derivation and traceability, functional analysis and allocation, WBS, trade studies, modeling and simulation, metrics, risk management, integration and test, verification and validation 

• Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and works well in a fast-paced team environment  

• Strong interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams  

• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, specifically attention to detail along with effective time and project management  

• Experience with presenting and communicating technical data to various audiences (government and leadership audience experience preferred)  

• Willingness to mentor colleagues   

Desired: 

• Experience working with DoD or IC acquisition organizations  

• Experience working specifically on a Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) or Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) contract  

• Experience working with Space Systems Command (SSC)   

• Understanding of software related topics such as database design, content management systems, and enterprise service bus architecture  

• Experience with UML/SysML modeling languages and DoDAF/UAF frameworks 

Education /Certification Requirements: 

• B.S. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related scientific discipline (required)  

• M.S. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related scientific discipline (highly desired)  

Security Clearance Level Required: 

• Top Secret (Must be a U.S. Citizen) 

• SCI eligible 

• SAP eligibility  

Location/Travel Requirements: 

• Place of work is El Segundo, CA area, remote work opportunity is limited 

• May require travel up to 20% of time within the continental United States
