Systems Engineer – Laser Products and Integrated Subsystems - Coherent Corp.

• Synthesize product and technology requirements from marketing and customer inputs through design trades, analysis, and laboratory verification
• Manage the design trades between various technical and non-technical requirements to provide direction to the larger NPI program.
• Collaborate closely with our team of optical, electronic, software, reliability, applications, marketing and research teams to breathe life into emerging advanced technologies and products.
• Define the architecture of high-speed servo-controlled laser and motion platforms
• Define signal processing and controls strategies for laser, motion and sensor signals
• Define interfaces and processes for complex technical platforms, system specifications, I/O and HW/SW compatibility
• Develop verification and test plans tied to product requirements, risks, and theory of operations
• Provide technical guidance on selection of various technology platforms such as PLCs, programming paradigms, motion control systems etc.
• Improve our workflows, optimization methods, and risk management tools to make Coherent a more effective development factory.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Direct experience in systems engineering, or a related discipline
• At least 5 years experience working as a systems engineer managing requirements capture, analysis, architecture, design, and design verification of complex systems

• Masters or Ph.D. in systems engineering or related discipline
• Expertise in controls, motion control, optoelectronics, and machine vision systems
• Experience developing automated laser process, semiconductor metrology or process equipment

• Product development experience
• Structured decision and requirements management experience
• Knowledge of systems engineering related software tools

• Office environment and work in a laboratory are expected.

• Work in a laser laboratory, with potential occasional lifting of heavy equipment or parts.
