Job Title: Systems Integration Engineer (Rhapsody)
Location: Remote (Clemson, South Carolina)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Integration Engineer to join our team. You will work closely with other Systems Integration team members and various programs within the Public Health Deputy Area, playing a key role in enhancing and modernizing existing processes and systems. This position requires someone who is self-driven, team-oriented, and capable of working under limited supervision, handling high-priority tasks with efficiency.
The candidate will be responsible for leading integration efforts within the Rhapsody Environment, including process conversions, upgrades, and system improvements. This role will involve direct collaboration with contract and vendor staff, internal stakeholders, and the IT department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with DPH and implementation staff to plan, design, configure, and migrate existing processes into the Rhapsody Environment.
- Coordinate daily assignments with the IT Section Manager and Team Lead.
- Engage with stakeholders, attend meetings, provide technical guidance, and respond promptly to project needs.
- Advise on process improvements, software updates, and best practices for Rhapsody route and code conversion.
- Troubleshoot, rewrite, and optimize existing solutions to improve efficiency, performance, and maintainability.
- Perform and automate daily system maintenance, monitoring routes, ensuring proper data flow and response times.
- Support Rhapsody upgrades and new environment configurations, ensuring maximum system uptime for business continuity.
- Perform gap analysis, gather functional requirements, and develop processes for integration with testing, lab, and surveillance systems.
- Assist with data and database migration tasks, including code changes, testing, and validation.
- Create and maintain system documentation and architecture diagrams.
- Mentor and guide technical teams on best practices, perform code reviews, and participate in complex programming tasks.
- Assist with the onboarding of providers and partners to utilize Rhapsody services like HL7 electronic lab reporting (ELR), electronic case reporting (eCR), and data sharing.
Additional Duties:
- Ensure all deliverables meet DPH security standards, including compliance with HIPAA, CJIS, PHI, and PII regulations.
- Provide support for critical systems during business hours, off hours, and weekends (flexible hours available).
- Collaborate with DPH staff and vendors to ensure processes and code conform to industry best practices and updated coding standards.
- Follow all agency IT standards, policies, and procedures.
Tools and Technology:
- Software: Lyniate Rhapsody (v6+), MS T-SQL, JavaScript (ECMA/E4X), Web Services (REST, SOAP, WSDL), XML.
- System Monitoring: Rhapsody UI and other tools for production processing and troubleshooting.

- Experience in Public Health/Disease Surveillance Systems or LIMS.
- Solid background in data integration, staging, and quality management.
- Familiarity with LOINC and SNOMED coding.
- Experience with DevOps and JIRA.
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships with technical staff, customers, and data management teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Required Certification: Rhapsody Certification (Please specify certification level).
