This summer internship on the Systems Integration team is a hands-on role which applies a variety of engineering expertise (electrical, mechanical, and software) to build, integrate, test, and maintain a complex surgical robotic platform. This position may also support test design and execution including calibration, characterization, and engineering testing across technical teams at Johnson & Johnson.

Core Job Responsibilities:
- Support system/subsystem-level robotic integration across multi-functional subject areas
- Identify, root cause, and resolve novel issues that arise across the R&D systems by working across mechanical, electrical, software, robotic controls, and clinical teams
- Characterize and de-risk the design from prototype to subsystem level, analyze test results and provide meaningful insights or conclusions
- Support development of test methods and fixtures for system/subsystem integration, test, and calibration
- Support clinical and human factors objectives to test new features in simulation and implement in labs
- Junior or Senior pursuing a BS Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Biomedical); MS or PhD candidate
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with software-controlled mechanical systems
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with sensors and actuators
- Knowledge in: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software
- Must understand and modify software (for example, C or python)
- Must understand electrical schematics
- Must understand mechanical drawings
- Experience partitioning and decomposing complex engineering problems into solvable problems
- Understanding of engineering concepts such as system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
- Hands-on experience with robotic systems is a plus
