Position Summary:
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology is seeking a Program Coordinator II to work under minimal supervision, help coordinate administration, and logistical support for a defined department research program (s), often of a large and/or complex nature. Carries out established program objectives and directives. Follows established guidelines or protocols. Determines the best approach to accomplish assignments.
May participate in research program planning and setting program objectives with senior Division staff and faculty. May act as a communication liaison and research projects planner. Interfaces, grants finance/accounting, Office of Sponsored Programs, as well as with research administrators and faculty at other institutions patients. Will work with Division Administrator to make sure research projects adhere to program budget. May assist with grant and contract preparation and submission. Program Coordinator II will also assist with development of program content and plan research symposiums, seminars, faculty events and programs, training and other activities to grow faculty research awards according to NIH and other sponsor protocols.
The position will coordinate communications with faculty to learn more about their current work to facilitate research and associated intramural funding applications as well as identifying and coordinating new research development initiatives. Will assist with research program development, content, and administration in the Division and assist with research symposiums, seminars, faculty events and programs, research training activities, (arrange speakers, travel, contracts, venues, etc) and other activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform data collection and analysis for Department and School-wide research strategic metrics.
- Assist with coordinating progress reports, maintaining bio sketches and other support for extramurally funded interdisciplinary grant proposals.
- Assist faculty with grant writing and preparation of progress reports
- Identify and develop new research development research initiatives.
- Assist Division Administrator and Grants Manager in in developing programs for junior faculty members.
- Research and gather data on grant funding and grant funding opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: %2418.35 - %2429.80
Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
