JobDescription
To perform a variety of routine histological procedures related to preparation of tissue for microscopic examination by a pathologist. To perform procedures including embedding, microtomy, staining and other special techniques as needed for diagnosis.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Currently eligible for certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or a minimum of three (3) years applicable histology technical experience required. If certification eligible, must provide letter from ASCP proving eligibility to sit for certification exam. Students who are enrolled in an accredited Histology Technician associate degree program and have documented competence may be considered for employment. Students pursuing a Histologic Technician degree must obtain degree within nine (9) months from date of hire.
