Description
Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. Responds to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents. Adheres to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards. Uses professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques. Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner. Assists other team members with daily work and special projects. Uses assigned communication device.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:
- Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. Responds to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents. Adheres to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Completes tasks independently, using professional cleaning techniques. Actively participates in ongoing training to maintain professional cleaning skills.
- Empties, cleans and replaces liners in waste containers daily. Coordinates removal of recycling and large waste and debris items.
- Regularly inspects and refills supply of paper, soap and other products throughout the shift to ensure supplies are available at all times.
- Maintains carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment of stains. Maintains hard flooring and stair treads through daily sweeping, wet and/or dry mopping.
- Inspects and actively maintains cleanliness of high-traffic areas such as restrooms, breakrooms and lobby areas throughout shift. Actively maintains cleanliness of door handles, water fountains, light switches, elevator buttons and similar high-contact surfaces.
- Dusts, cleans and disinfects a variety of surfaces to include furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.
- Properly uses, stores and maintains adequate supply of equipment and cleaning products. Uses resources in a safe, cost-effective manner.
- Uses assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests.Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.

- Ability to read and write and be able to comprehend written and oral instruction
- Ability to use personal computer, cell phone, tablet or other device with limited training
- Ability to utilize email programs and applications necessary to perform job duties with limited training

Experience:
Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
Starting Hourly Rate: %2415.00 hour
Work Schedule:
Work Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Monday - Friday, 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Shifts are subject to change to meet the needs of the University.
High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Some positions require that driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle
in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession of a valid
driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving
experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
PERSONAL:
Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include:
- Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
- Climbing stairs
- Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.
- Working in confined spaces.
- Working within extreme temperature ranges.
