About the Job
Responsible for the development, design, installation and maintenance of a department s networked computers. Assume sole responsibility as the systems or network administrator . Manages the technical aspects of the system/network. Provides user support by troubleshooting PC and Network problems, as well as acts as a liaison with personnel who operate the University Backbone Network . May supervise other technical support personnel, such as Computer Technicians and Information System Specialist I s performing routine maintenance, repair, troubleshooting or PC/Network operations duties.
This position supports the Department of Medicine Information Technology Help Desk Operations Core Group. Tier 2 Support Configure PC/Mac Troubleshoot hardware and software Support, maintain, and enhance DOM IT Internal HelpDesk applications and databases Collect and maintain accurate annual inventory of all services compiled from various sources and repositories (i.e. SCCM, Casper, REDCap, Servers) Configure and troubleshoot printer, copier, etc. Maintain and support conference room equipment Train junior or new HelpDesk staff Write simple batch scripts to automate tasks Consult with vendors on troubleshooting and solution Work closely with HSIS and UAB Central IT on integration Write documentation and knowledgebase articles
Salary Range: %2447,665 - %2477,455
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
