About the Job
To provide direct support with the administration of the risk program within the University and University
Hospital (non-clinical), including risk assessment, risk financing, risk transfer, and risk mitigation/control
efforts. Conducts investigation of accidents and incidents and assists with the management of claims.
Assists with property and liability insurance underwriting data procurement, application completion, policy
review, and invoice processing.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Coordinates and assists in the administration of various property and liability insurance and risk
management programs. Obtains and maintains information for underwriting and insurance renewal
applications. Maintains insurance spreadsheets and other information for the Office of Compliance
& Risk Assurance.
2. Responds to incidents including, but not limited to, direct damage to property, visitor accidents, and
automobile accidents and provides guidance to the individuals and units involved.
3. Investigates incident/accident reports, assists the Director in determining the institutionrsquo;s liability and
otherwise coordinates and manages property and liability claims within delegated authority. Sets up
electronic case-files and processes requests for claims payments through the appropriate
personnel. Reports claims as required to appropriate commercial insurance providers and other
university offices and facilitates payment/reimbursement of claims.
4. Assists the Director in the management of the Vehicle Safety Management Program, including
processing Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) requests and reviewing records and communicating with
Human Resources and units.
5. Reviews incidents reported daily through the electronic system, police reports, or other reporting
methods and identifies reports requiring further investigation and/or escalation of reporting.
6. Serves the University missions by responding to requests for the review of contracts relative to
insurance and other risk transfer terms, to questions from departments and, providing advice
regarding insurance and other risk management issues.
7. Assists in the maintenance of the Office of Compliance & Risk Assurance operating, training and
other manuals and publications. Assists the Director in the review and development of risk
management related guidelines, policies and procedures.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range: %2470,425 - %24114,440
Bachelor s degree in business or related field and Five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education. Alabama Drivers License OR state ID required within 30 days of hire.
