Job Description:
To serve as an expert in the clinical assessment and evaluation of seating and positioning needs of our patients and other areas related areas (wound and contracture management and prevention, home modification, advanced WC skill training). To serve as resource to help therapy staff navigate the WC evaluation process, including successful completion of wheelchair assessments and providing proper justification to payor sources. To develop and lead educational in-services and training for patients and staff related to seating and positioning topics, advanced wheelchair skills and home modifications. To serve as liaison between inpatient rehab and outpatient to ensure WC evaluations are performed at appropriate time. May provide WC follow-up assessment for patients who were evaluated in inpatient rehab.
Master's degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy and three (3) yearsrsquo; experience that include treating spinal cord injury population in an inpatient setting and experience operating complex rehab technology (CRT) required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed as an Occupational Therapist (OT) by the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association (ALOTA) or currently registered as a Registered Physical Therapist (PT) or (RPT) by the State of Alabama Board of Physical Therapy required. Currently certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required. Seating and Mobility Specialist certification preferred.
