As a Research Technician, this entry-level position will play a pivotal role in supporting team operations within a dynamic research environment. Under the guidance of managers, team leads, or senior technicians, you will conduct routine tests/measures and assist in various research endeavors. Your responsibilities will include aiding investigators or senior researchers in conducting studies and procedures encompassing tasks such as data collection, solution preparation, and equipment setup and maintenance. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists investigators or senior researchers in conducting research studies/protocol implementation.
- Performs routine tests and measures following established protocols and procedures.
- Collaborates with supervisors, managers, or senior technicians to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
- Participate in data collection activities and maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and results.
- Prepare solutions, reagents, and other materials required for laboratory-based experiments.
- Set up and maintain equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration.
- Adheres to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized research environment. This position involves research animal contact.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: %2415.00 - %2424.40
High School or GED required. Previous research experience or coursework preferred.
Preferred:
- Previous experience working or volunteering in a laboratory.
- Interest in neurobiology and psychiatric diseases.
- Interest and willingness to work with rodent (mouse) models.
- Interest and willingness to learn about data analysis using Python.
- Organized and methodical in data collection and lab management.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work alone or with others.
- Reliable and committed to the lab.
- Previous experience working with rats/mice.
- Experience with any of the following: rodent surgery, animal handing/behavior, histological techniques, microscopy.
- Experience with basic statistical analyses.
- Experience coding with Python.
