The Opportunity

Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Tax Accountant. This is a corporate tax department position for accounting professionals interested in pursuing careers in corporate tax and will support Valvoline's Senior Tax Accountant on all aspects of transaction tax (i.e., sales tax) compliance and audits as well as other support as needed throughout the tax department.

How You'll Make a Difference

• Coordinate transaction tax compliance and provide information needed to prepare the returns to the third-party providers.
• Review returns and workpapers for accuracy and maintain support of final returns.
• Manage payment tracker for all transaction tax returns, including coordination with third party provider.
• Support tax controversy/tax audit defense/tax authority inquiries for transaction taxes.
• Assist in preparing transaction tax returns and business licenses that do not fall under the responsibility of a third party return preparer.
• Track licenses prepared on an annual basis.
• Research business license and other transaction tax requirements for new locations and the overall business.
• Review and reconcile transaction tax accounts for accounting records.
• Assist the business with tax related requests.
• Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree (accounting preferred) or equivalent combination of experience and education
• Master’s degree (preferred)
• Minimum of one year of experience
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA Eligible (preferred)
• Must possess core level of accounting theory and be able to understand financial data with strong computer skills
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Experience with tax software
• Experience with ERP systems (i.e. SAP, JD Edwards, etc.)
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
