One of our reputed clients is looking for an experienced Tax Analyst in Omaha, NE.
Description:
General Purpose:
Prepares monthly and quarterly sales/use tax returns and ensures the returns and associated tax payments are made on a timely basis (includes making monthly tax accrual for Minnesota compressor fuel use tax liability).
Reviews monthly tax accruals for appropriateness.
(25-30%) Answers technical questions about the application of sales and use taxes to specific transactions or invoices.
Makes changes to sales and use tax rates in proprietary software.
(10-15%) Reviews tax holds on a daily basis and researches issues to resolve holds.
(10-15%) Assists with updating the monthly forecast for taxes.
(10-15%) Supports FERC regulatory reporting and rate case filings in regards to sales/use and property tax.
Prepares Form 2 schedules related to taxes.
(10-15%) Assists in preparing responses related to audits by federal and state tax authorities.
Prepares the initial company response with the assistance of the manager.
(5-10%) Researches complex tax questions as needed.
(5-10%) Prepares special projects or tax filings as assigned.
(5-10%) Identifies potential tax issues, opportunities for tax savings, and ways to make assigned tax compliance more efficient.
(5-10%) Helps maintain permanent tax files and records.
(5-10%) Enhances knowledge of tax trends and best practices by reading technical newsletters, attending tax seminars and conferences, and networking with other tax professionals within Client.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (finance, business administration) or equivalent related work experience.
(Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
Two or more years of practical accounting experience, with at least one year of relevant tax experience.
Experience with Vertex or tax engine software preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including ability to create schedules and reconciliations for management that succinctly summarize the company’s tax position.
Effective interpersonal, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Intermediate computer skills and aptitude necessary to efficiently operate work-related software.
Working knowledge of principles of taxation.
