Job Description:  Tax Department Settlement Administrator

The Tax Department Settlement Administrator oversees the billing of completed property tax appeal matters and manages the distribution and accounting of received funds.  Specific responsibilities include:

• Reviewing settlement agreements to verify that judgments were entered correctly.
• Sending judgements to various municipal tax collectors and tracking outstanding refunds owed by municipalities.
• Creating fee computations and managing their review by the assigned attorney
• Sending and tracking payment disbursement authorizations and invoices
• Coordinating with Billing to distribute funds.
• Communicate with clients throughout the process to provide updates and resolve outstanding issues.
• Communicate with municipal and county tax offices to coordinate payments and/or correct tax accounting issues or discrepancies.
• Record keeping and data entry in various systems to support the above
• Assist the Tax Department in overall record-keeping, tracking, and case management – generally limited to settlement and billing related management.
• Support various other processes especially during the busy February to May tax season such as:
  • Establishing clients in our systems and setting up matters
  • Validating information on appeals and other documents
• Support the stipulation process by:
  • Recording critical dates
  • Updating eCourts / Tax Court calendars
