About the Role:
Our client, a well-established accounting firm in Atlanta, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their team. In this role, you will lead tax compliance and consulting engagements, primarily focusing on S-Corporations, C-Corporations, partnerships, multistate, and individual tax returns. The Tax Manager will oversee complex tax projects, mentor junior staff, and act as a primary client contact across engagements. Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance & Consulting: Manage the preparation and review of complex tax returns for S-Corporations, C-Corporations, partnerships, and individual clients.
- First-Level Review: Conduct a detailed first-review of returns prepared by Staff and Senior Associates, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Tax Projections & Estimates: Prepare and review income tax projections and estimates to support clients’ financial planning needs.
- Technical Research & Memoranda: Research complex tax issues and prepare well-documented technical memoranda, communicating findings in an accessible format.
- Client & Team Interaction: Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and team members, offering strategic insights and tax expertise.
- Mentorship & Development: Mentor Staff and Interns, providing guidance on tax matters and return preparation, and supporting their professional growth.
- Compliance & Notices: Handle communications with federal and state authorities as needed, including responding to notices and inquiries professionally.
- Specialization & Expertise: Continuously expand your knowledge in specific tax areas, adding to the firm’s expertise.
- Project Management: Maintain clear communication with management on project progress, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
- CPA certification (active or in progress) required.
- 4 years of tax experience in a public accounting firm or comparable environment.
- Advanced understanding of Federal and State income tax laws and the principles of individual and business taxation.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments effectively.
- Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
- A high level of client service excellence and a proactive, problem-solving approach to tax issues.
