About the Job
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
- 8 years relevant business experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment tax and income tax laws
- Knowledge of tax research techniques and tax research software
- Knowledge of ASC740 principles
- Knowledge of the tax treatment of various legal entities
- Ability to comprehend and interpret tax law
- Ability to plan and organize projects to meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong analytical, problem solving and leadership skills
- Attention to detail
- Judgement and decision-making skills
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise-wide software
- Basic Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel
- Intermediate skills with tax provision software and tax research tools (e.g., OneSource, CCH AnswerConnect, and Bloomberg/BNA HR & Payroll Resource)
- Ability to manage a fluctuating workload and tight deadlines by working extended hours and/or weekends during significant financial accounting and tax reporting periods
- Willingness to work a minimum of 45 hours per week (average for the year)
- Willingness to travel overnight on occasion
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Accounting with emphasis in Tax or MBA with concentration in Accounting or Finance
- 12 years of financial analysis experience, including 5 years of associate supervision experience
- Knowledge of the Publix payroll process
- Knowledge of internal corporate structure
- Advance knowledge of SAP HR & Financial modules or similar ERP systems
- Advance knowledge of tax provision software and tax research tools (e.g., OneSource, CCH AnswerConnect, and Bloomberg/BNA HR & Payroll Resource)
