About the Role
The Tax Manager will play a central role in managing tax compliance and consulting services for a diverse portfolio of clients, including businesses ranging from private companies to high-net-worth individuals. This role involves direct oversight of a team of tax professionals, ensuring high standards in client service, compliance, and project management. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with experience in people and project management, deadline-driven execution, and maintaining a client-first approach.
With a demonstrated record of success, this role provides substantial opportunities for advancement and partnership in a rapidly growing firm. Occasional travel may be required for specific client engagements and industry conferences.
Responsibilities
- Lead and Manage Engagements: Oversee tax compliance and consulting projects from start to finish, coordinating with internal teams to meet all deadlines and client expectations.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary contact for clients, ensuring clear, consistent communication and timely delivery of accurate tax solutions.
- Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and guide teams of tax professionals on client engagements, facilitating training and supporting individual growth.
- Compliance and Technical Expertise: Maintain strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, partnership taxation, and the latest industry standards, ensuring all work adheres to the highest compliance standards.
- Project Oversight and Process Improvement: Manage project budgets, monitor engagement metrics, and recommend process improvements to enhance team efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Technology and Innovation: Leverage modern tools and tax technologies to enhance client service delivery and increase firm efficiency.

Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required); CPA license required; Master's Degree a plus.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 7 years in public accounting with most of that experience focused on tax. Significant experience with people and project management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications and tax preparation software (experience with multiple tax software programs is a plus).
- Client-Facing Experience: Proven track record as the primary client contact, adept at working directly with client leadership on complex tax matters.
- Leadership and Team Development: Demonstrated experience leading teams, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Deadline-Oriented: Ability to prioritize multiple projects and consistently achieve deadlines, especially for client deliverables.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal skills, with the capacity to convey complex information to clients and team members effectively.
- Commitment to Growth: Strong client-service mindset, proactive problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt and innovate in a dynamic work environment.
- Willingness to Travel: Occasional travel may be required for specific client engagements.
