The Tax Senior performs most a wide variety of work assigned with a minimum of assistance. Is able to complete assigned areas of increasing complexity and when problems arise, outlines them for management, and then acts on advice. Is able to adhere to time budgets on jobs assigned and displays professional conduct. May lead Staff Accountants and assist in their training. Displays professional conduct, showing confidence and ease in the presence of staff and client representatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs diversified accounting and tax assignments under the direction of a Senior, Manager and/or Partner.
- Possesses knowledge of tax regulations in order to answer client's questions.
- Prepares personal, corporate, partnership, and S-Corp returns of increasing complexity.
- Responds to tax notices of any sort and prepares initial drafts of letters required.
- Performs tax research projects requiring minimal expertise.
- Prepares tax accruals as may be required in preparing corporate tax returns.
- Begins to demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
- Meets time constraints and client deadlines.
- Participates in tax planning and projections.
- Becomes proficient using the firm's software programs and prepares other reports, projects, and duties as may be assigned.
- Begins acquiring the skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has some supervisory responsibilities including the training, monitoring, and mentoring of other staff and interns while on engagements and within the office.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree or master's degree from a four-year college or university; with 150 credit hours CPA requirement met; and less than one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Completes annual continuing professional education requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Either holds a current and valid CPA license or is working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the CPA exam. If licensed, should be a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants, and the State Board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana.
