The Role
As a key member of the senior tax management team, this position will lead and manage all aspects of technically complex tax engagements, including consulting, planning and compliance projects for closely held multi-tiered pass-through entities and C corps. In this role, you will work closely leading the tax preparation team by providing them guidance, direction and leadership throughout the engagement cycle. This role can be achieved in a hybrid (San Diego, CA) or fully remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Consulting and Compliance: This position will work directly with clients assisting them with their planning and lead and ensure the team maintains a high degree of accuracy and timeliness of the preparation of tax returns, estimates and projections.
- Team Leadership: Work to ensure your team is engaged and excited by listening and assisting in the development of team members’ goals to meet department objectives while also providing opportunities for them to grow.
- Client Service: Deliver quality internal and external client service, in accordance with the Firm’s values, in order to build and maintain client loyalty and teamwork by contributing to a positive client and team member experience.
- Continuous Process Improvement: Focus on solutions and problem solving creatively in order to help make timely decisions by translating requests into action.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with a certificate in accounting from an accredited university
- Minimum of 10 years of increasing levels of responsibility in tax with a regional or large local CPA firm
- Must be an Active CPA
- Prior tax experience with Partnerships, S-Corps, and Pass-Through Entities
- Demonstrably strong leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations
- Ability to interact well with others in a team environment, as well as being able to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation
- Strong understanding of tax technology. ProSystem/Engagement experience and experience working in a paperless environment is a plus.
- Successful business development skills with proven track record a plus

The pay range for this role is $150,000 - $210,000 per year. This range includes the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on various factors, including experience, education and/or skill level.
