About the Department:
The International Tax Office is responsible for ensuring the University complies with U.S. tax and immigration law when making payments to or on behalf of its foreign faculty, staff, students, visitors, vendors, and services provided outside the U.S.
About the Position:
The George Mason University International Tax Office is seeking candidates for a part-time specialist position (up to 25 hours per week). The employee will provide data entry and reconciliation, tax research analysis, and policy expertise in the International Tax Office.

Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and processing of the immigration and tax data in tax database (Sprintax Calculus) and within university ERP (Banner);
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax reconciliation;
- Research and analyze changes in tax regulations and provide summary and solutions directly related to the university;
- Review and analyze the U.S. tax status of foreign vendors and scholarship recipients under the supervision of the Tax Manager; and
- Other duties as assigned with the possibility of meetings with international students/employees.
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in accounting, immigration relations, taxation, data maintenance, processing, reconciliation, or equivalent education;
- Ability to deliver high-quality, accurate work;
- Demonstrated problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills;
- Ability to prioritize tasks, balance competing priorities, and meet deadlines;
- Microsoft Office proficiency and willingness to learn and use tax software; and
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with non-native English speakers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience applying tax law to non-immigrant visa holders and foreign vendors;
- Experience processing information for entry into an ERP system or other software applications; and
- Experience performing other relevant accounting duties.
