TherapeuticLearning Center - Preschool Teacher
The Therapeutic Learning Center is in searchof a special education teacher for the 24-25 school year. Classroom teachers atthe TLC are responsible for the early education of children in their care.Duties and responsibilities of the classroom teacher include developing anddelivering interactive learning programs designed to engage and educate youngchildren with special needs.
Dutiesand responsibilities:
●Knowledge of early childhooddevelopment and milestones.
●Knowledge of and experienceworking with students that have developmental delays, medical complexities, andother disabilities.
●Knowledge and understanding ofcommon educational technologies and trends and how to implement technology forengaging lessons, as well as data collection.
●Ability to effectively implementengaging and developmentally appropriate lessons to students, and monitor tomake adjustments as needed.
●Understanding of various learningstyles and how to meet individual student needs.
●Ability to handle problems,concerns and emotional distress with sensitivity and tact.
●Ability to communicate orally andin writing with students, parents, and others.
●Collaborate with other teachers,parents, and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings and events.
●Work collaboratively andcommunicate effectively with the team, be able to solve problems independentlyand with the team.
●Ability to plan, establishpriorities and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
●Ability to assess levels ofstudent achievement effectively, analyze test results, and prescribe actionsfor improvement.
●Ability to maintain appropriatestudent supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment inwhich to learn.
●Ability to write and followthrough with Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and maintain compliance.
●Ability to document student goals,collect data, and assess children effectively.
●Observe and understand students’behavior and wellbeing and report suspicions of neglect, abuse, etc.
●Develop and enrich professionalskills and knowledge by attending professional development trainings,conferences, etc.
●Patience and compassion suitablefor working with young children
●Knowledge and understanding ofdifferent behavioral needs and how to effectively implement classroommanagement strategies.
●Strong public speaking and oralpresentation skills
●Use effective time management andorganizational skills with fidelity.
●Provide tools and resources forchildren to use and explore during learning and play activities
●Provide social skills instructionand facilitate peer interactions and social groups throughout the school day.
●Maintain inventory system forclassroom materials and supplies
●Adhere to health/safety andsanitation procedures
●Preparation/Support including, butnot limited to: Preparing visual aids or communication supports, duplicatingmaterials, laminating, reorganizing materials, distributing and collectingmaterials, creating and planning arts and crafts activities
●Assist with student hygiene andindependent functioning needs including, but not limited to: toilet trainingand toileting assistance (changing diapers), handwashing, feeding.
●Support each child’s social,emotional and intellectual growth and development.
●Thorough knowledge of teachingbest practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness tofollow the school’s policies and procedures
Requirements
●Bachelor’s degree in EarlyChildhood or ESE from an accredited educational institution preferred.
●Valid Florida teachercertification in ESE and either Pre-K Primary or Preschool Education
●Clear level 2 criminal backgroundscreening.
●A valid Florida Driver's licenseand proof of insurance.
●Certification in CPR and FirstAid, kept current. (will train, if needed)
