Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Team Leader, EMC Lab Operations in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the operations of the EMC lab.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
- Partner with Compliance Engineering/test equipment owners to ensure effective planning and execution of test requests and delivery of timely information to support testing deliverables and the product launch
- Partner with Calibration team to ensure all equipment calibrations are compliant with ISO17025 requirements and manage calibration cycles, trend analysis, calibration documentation storage, and manage equipment redundancy with appropriate calibration intervals
- Team with EMC Engineering to ensure appropriate test systems, methods and processes are in place
- Align test methods/systems and ensure repeatability of results across Garmin products/segments
- Lead a team responsible for driving activities such as:
- Effective scheduling, prioritization and throughput of all EMC testing tasks
- Creation, review and modification of various test processes and work instructions
- Training, supporting, and mentoring associates to ensure a capable, competent and high-performance team
- A high level of integrity and preservation of test records
- Identification and implementation of process improvements as they relate to the quality/delivery of EMC test and calibration activities
- Maintenance/repair of test systems and equipment
- Effective scheduling, prioritization and throughput of all EMC tasks related to test execution, data analysis and test results compilation and reporting
- Manage handshakes across shifts, schedules, tasks priority across test projects and multiple physical location of the lab
- Provide leadership to the EMC technician team members and ensure appropriate tools and processes are in place to support a variety of test processes
- Set a positive tone for the team environment and maintain healthy team relationships
- Champion solutions to support evolving business needs by providing operational plans with the appropriate amount of technical information along with options for success
- Ensure associate relations issues are addressed consistently and fairly
- Support the evaluation, design and fabrication of test systems
- Conduct annual performance evaluations with associates
- Interview, hire, and train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance
- Partner with Facilities, EHS and Construction teams to ensure lab and teams safety
- Provide leadership for internal projects such as Storage and organization of lab equipment, golden sample archive project
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering a field relevant to EMC, RF, Reliability testing for the successful performance of this job description
- Must possess previous demonstrated leadership experience in reliability, operations, process engineering, industrial engineering, electronics manufacturing, calibration or a related field with a demonstrated ability to manage technical human resources items
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrated proficient computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, as well as CAD software (ex. SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills and must possess a high level of
- interpersonal skills to work across functional and organizational lines
- Ability to prioritize/multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment while meeting deadlines
- Must be detail/team oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, and have excellent time management and follow-up skills
- Must demonstrate superior organizational/analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
Desired Qualifications
- 3-5 years in previous test experience in an environmental test lab, EMC, reliability, electronics, engineering, manufacturing, calibration, and/or operations related environment
- Proficient knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17025, AS9100, IATF6949
- Previous Electrical Engineering or Technician experience
