Job Description
The Team Manager is a Software Developer Lead responsible for leading multiple software development teams working on various new software development and support initiatives for captive finance applications. This role operates at a strategic level in collaboration with business executives and IT senior leadership. The manager provides guidance and partnership with the Servicing Business area for projects, enhancements, and support, ensuring production releases, stability, and performance of the servicing systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day operational support for production releases, stability, and performance of servicing systems.
- Mentor and coach direct reports, serving as the escalation point for issues.
- Ensure projects are successfully completed and operational objectives are met.
- Align resource allocation with unit manager expectations and adjust resource leveling.
- Assist in cross-company initiatives and non-IT initiatives as needed.
- Identify opportunities for business innovation and technology improvements.
- Conduct initial and final interviews for potential candidates and assist with vendor agreements.
- Serve as a Solutions Architect, leading the technical workstream and obtaining design approvals.
- Build vision, technology roadmaps, and planning artifacts for the Captive Finance IT division.
- Communicate and collaborate with internal and external contacts to provide updates, receive direction, and solve issues.
- Develop systems, processes, and policies to improve efficiency and manage AMS vendors.
- Prepare and manage finances for the unit, ensuring adherence to budgets.
- Design technical solutions, provide technical architecture oversight, and conduct code reviews.
- Perform modeling, gap analysis, and craft architecture artifacts.
- Lead the technical workstream in critical projects, building technology roadmaps.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in IS or related field.
- 10+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 in financial services.
- 5-10 years of experience with servicing applications in captive finance.
- 5+ years of supervisory or management experience.
- 5+ years of project management experience.
- Experience leading multiple software development teams (AWS, .Net, SQL, Salesforce, IBM MQ, ETL, App Connect Enterprise ACE).
- Experience designing solutions and providing technical architecture oversight.
- Experience as a leader for solution and business architecture.
- Experience performing modeling, gap analysis, and crafting architecture artifacts.
- Experience working with the Architecture Review Board.
- Experience leading the technical workstream for critical projects in captive finance.
- Experience building 5-year visions and 3-year technology roadmaps.
- Hands-on coding and design review experience in .NET, Salesforce, SQL, ETL, IBM MQ, and IBM ACE.
- Project Management (PMP) certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Program Management (PgMP) certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- 8 years of experience in the auto industry or captive finance roles from an IT background.
- 8+ years of project management experience with a successful track record as a leader of large-scale complex projects.
- Experience executing projects using Agile and Waterfall processes.
- Expert-level knowledge of project and change management methodologies.
