Role and Responsibilities:
The Team Transportation Manager will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the company's employee transportation operations, including but not limited to managing the vehicle fleet, transportation logistics, and process improvement. The Team Transportation Manager will be tasked with developing and auditing processes, ensuring policy compliance, driving cross-functional collaboration, and nurturing a transportation culture that reflects professionalism, safety, and experience-first leadership. Previous management experience is a must.
This role requires a high degree of responsibility and offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact, developing new strategies and fostering an environment of growth and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation Logistics & Management:
- Oversee the company's transportation operations, ensuring timely, safe, and efficient use of vehicles and drivers.
- Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Audit and optimize existing processes to enhance efficiency and safety standards.
- Fleet Management:
- Manage the maintenance, scheduling, and usage of all company vehicles, ensuring they are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with regulations.
- Maintain comprehensive records of vehicle inspections, insurance, and registrations.
- Collaborate with vendors for vehicle procurement, leasing, and repairs.
- Monitor fleet performance, identifying areas for cost savings and operational improvement.
- Safety & Compliance Training:
- Regular updates on local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- OSHA and Department of Transportation (DOT) safety standards.
- Training in accident prevention and fleet safety protocols.
- Software & Technology:
- Mastery of fleet management software for optimizing logistics and fleet usage.
- Training in vehicle telematics, GPS tracking, and maintenance management systems.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Continuous leadership development focused on people-first management.
- Training in conflict resolution, communication, and team-building techniques.
- Vendor & Budget Management:
- Negotiation and procurement training to manage relationships with vehicle suppliers and repair vendors.
- Courses on budgeting and cost control for fleet operations, maintenance, and fuel management.
- Policy Oversight & Compliance:
- Ensure that all fleet operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Regularly review and update transportation policies, keeping the team informed of changes.
- Conduct safety audits and compliance checks, addressing any issues proactively.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of drivers and transportation staff, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance skills and ensure alignment with company standards.
- Promote a people-first culture, where employee experience, respect, and career growth are prioritized.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments, ensuring transportation services align with the broader organizational goals.
- Collaborate with HR and Operations to support transportation initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and client experiences.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in transportation management, fleet management, or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle safety regulations and maintenance standards.
- Experience developing and auditing transportation processes and policies.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and lead a team.
- Strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and compliance.
