Technical Architecture
- Lead the design and architecture of an on-premise technical infrastructure stack, ensuring they align with the overall technology strategy of the organization.
- Participate in the design, planning, and execution of cloud migration and data warehousing strategies
- Execute projects to eliminate technical debt and create reliable, available, and resilient systems.
- Test platform and infrastructure changes thoroughly using techniques such as load simulation, test environments, production pilots, and audit modes.
- Identify and execute opportunities for architectural improvement including but not limited to new technologies, better methods, and innovative approaches.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to system engineering teams to ensure best practices are followed.
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Technical Proficiency
- Utilize strong knowledge of Unix-like operating systems and Windows operating systems to support secure and performant configurations.
- Manage relational databases to ensure data integrity, security, and performance optimization.
- Configure, manage, and optimize virtualization platforms such as Proxmox, VMWare or cloud
- Establish and improve environment-wide monitoring to alert engineering teams of performance and availability problems as proactively as possible.
- Implement infrastructure improvement projects and new systems according to secure design principles and consistent with company security policies.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for security improvement within the environment.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality technical documentation and reports.
- Facilitate meetings and discussions, ensuring clear communication and understanding among team members.
- Stay up to date awith the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Reliable and highly available applications and systems
- Maximized and optimized use of available processing, storage, and memory resources
Readiness for hyper scalability in the environment to support new business that brings large transaction volumes
- Highly performant systems for production jobs, data entry partners, and QuickClaim users
Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency with Debian Linux and Windows operating systems and related foundational concepts:
- File systems
- TCP/IP networking
- Processes and threads
- Active Directory
- Strong knowledge and experience with MySQL relational databases (e.g., MySQL) including:
- Replication
- Scaling
- Partitioning
- Strong knowledge and experience with storage concepts and technologies including:
- Storage Area Networks
- iSCSI
- ZFS
- RAID
- Strong knowledge of security best practices including:
- Web application security (e.g. OWASP)
- Database security
- Network security
- Strong knowledge of cloud provisioning and operations, particularly with hybrid environments and on-prem to cloud migrations
- Microsoft Azure
- Amazon Web Services
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft licensing
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong math aptitude with the ability to apply mathematical concepts to problem-solving.
- Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
- Strong reading comprehension to understand and analyze complex technical documents.
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in technical infrastructure management or a related role
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., cloud, networking, and security) are a plus.
