Technical Business Analyst
Location: Whitehouse Station, NJ

The IT Business Analyst role will report into Client's North America Advanced Engineering Technology Team. The role will work with stakeholders across Business Units and IT to define business solutions, business strategies, capabilities, and processes that support various Business Units (Commercial, Personal Lines, Middle Market, SCI, Claims etc.). This individual will support cross functional projects with multiple stakeholders. Success requires a combination of strong analytical skills, technical competency, and communication skills. The successful candidate requires a combination of a process mindset and an orientation for change, as well as strong analytical and project management skills. Knowledge of the insurance industry is strongly desired. The ability to expose requirements through detail questions and propose alternate solutions options is critical.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a point of contact with key stakeholders from IT, Underwriting, Operations, Product applications and Finance within Client Advanced Engineering Technology Team for enhancements, issue identification, escalation, and resolution related to the various policy admin/portals/billing system and integration platforms
This role will assist in the business process design and documentation for new products; enhancements and translate high level business requirements into functional features for the IT organization for multiple lines of business
Business analyst with Strong technical documentation skills Define and document system specification artifacts that include, User stories traceability to requirements API interactions documentation with user interface System APIs Digital Workflows Use Cases Data Mapping Definitions Sequence Diagrams Call Flows Should have knowledge how to write a user stories using the tools like JIRA etc.
Formulate business requirements to automate to-be processes, achieved through the construction of user stories from features identified
Provide input to acceptance criteria to be approved by Product Owners (criteria per user story will ensure product is built right and the right product is built for customer/employee)
Ensure consistency and traceability between requirements, functional specifications and testing & validation and support testing and training
Provide input to test scenarios & conduct solution testing (unit testing and integrated testing)
Plan and hold demonstrations (every 2 weeks) to showcase working components of the solution to key stakeholders
Works with stakeholders to understand their needs, analyze problems, and capture their requirements, and then working closely with the Development Team to refine the requirement into specifications that can be executed by the team
Analyzes, interprets, defines, and documents detailed requirements and acceptance criteria in features and user stories by collaborating with the business and technology teams, and third party/other interfaces or partners
Acts as a proxy Product Owner role working with business stakeholders in Agile project delivery, effectively manage the product backlog; and manage changes to such specifications in accordance with Client and/or industry standards and processes
Supports the prioritization, software development and delivery of user stories within the sprints for each program increment, and validates the user stories against acceptance criteria
Lead the investigation of issues and engage appropriate support teams (IT, Operational, Vendor) for resolution, and inform stakeholders of status
Actively participate or lead status meetings, requirements gathering and design sessions, implementation planning sessions, and effectively multi-task across multiple projects concurrently
Demonstrated experience in working across geographies, cultures and time zones.
Documents process, procedures and workflows associated with applications
Leads or participate in continuous improvement efforts;
Building expertise in creating, analyzing, and improving processes.
Translating complex and broad subject matter into organized requirements and categories that will serve as inputs into Product, Design and Development processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field; or equivalent work experience
Preferred 8 -10 years of information technology as a technical business analyst with expertise in different technologies, business areas, end-to-end application analysis.
Systems background and understanding of insurance systems such as Duck Creek, Genius, Tracker, Etc.
Hands on experience in analyzing/documenting requirements/features for high level designs/workflows, software specifications for UI, reports, data, complex analytic calculations.
Prior experience as a programmer/developer is a plus
Collaborating with Product, Engineering and other stakeholders to help define features, integrations and partnerships.
Analyzing various sources of operational data surfacing insights and findings which support business and technical decisions.
Identifying data sources and prepares/combines data for analysis.
Capable of writing complex queries to join, transform and aggregate data.
Adept at surfacing data insights using a variety of tools such as spreadsheets, pivot tables, diagrams or other forms of visualization.
Comfortable working with data in various formats including flat files, tables, CSV, JSON and XML; able to import/export and convert data to work with it as necessary.
Ability to convey complex/abstract ideas to target audience both verbally and visually; fluent with visual modeling tools and techniques such as LucidChart, Visio, UML and other common types of diagram .
