Technical Director - Actalent

Job Title: Technical Leader/Director Job Description Summary: This person is responsible for directing the development of projects primarily related to new artificial intelligence products within image processing, computer vision, machine learning (ML), and autonomy. Design, architect, and build solutions for new software platforms while leading a high-performing team to deliver and execute customer requirements. This role is very much hands-on with technical leadership responsibilities. Summary of Essential Job Functions: - Direct and manage internal and external teams in the execution of advanced development programs in the areas of artificial intelligence-based detection and classification systems. - Provide subject matter expertise in autonomy, image processing, and their integration with advanced artificial intelligence systems. - Design and architect new image processing and autonomous solutions to support advanced artificial intelligence products. - Collaborate with other subject matter experts and technical directors to design and architect a full artificial intelligence software stack. - Interface with customers as a subject matter expert. - Responsible for algorithm design and development, including performance assessments using theoretical and real-world data. - Interface with software engineers to translate AI, ML, and autonomy algorithms into real-time embedded code. - Ensure quality assurance processes are accurate and reliable. - Collaborate with the Quality team on testing and validation activities to maintain high-quality standards. - Address ethical considerations and biases in AI algorithms. - Ensure AI systems comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, promoting responsible AI practices. - Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders. - Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Hard Skills + Ph.D. preferred in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field + Demonstrated experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Autonomy + Leading internal teams and managing external suppliers + Machine learning + Computer vision + Classifiers + Autonomous robotics + Unmanned air systems + Image processing + Machine vision + Digital signal processing + Image tracking and estimation + Cyber security for deployed robotics + Simulation, error modeling, and Monte Carlo analysis + C++ expertise + Implementing fielded software with AI components + Decomposing military requirements into software specifications + Developing software for unmanned systems + Writing SBIR, STTR, or other DoD proposals Soft Skills + Technical leadership + Research and development on new technologies + Project management + Ability to decompose requirements and plan project completion + Communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Work Site This is a fully on-site position in the Columbia Gorge, east of Portland Work Environment On-site but flexible.
