We are currently seeking Technical Engineering Interns to support our operations in the Mid-West and Southeast regions of the country.
Position: Technical Engineering Intern
Position Overview
As the Technical Engineering Intern, you will spend the bulk of the time working closely with local operations to gain experience in multiple aspects of the blasting industry. During this internship, you will gain hands-on experience in the field application and use of explosive products, while utilizing the latest technology to deliver safe and effective results. Responsibilities of the Position
- While carrying out daily responsibilities safety and compliance must be the first priority.
- Partners with customers to develop plans, identify special projects and implement technologies and controls to optimize mine operations.
- Ensures all company and customer safety protocols as well as regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
- Conducts surveys and blast performance measures. Develops reports, presentations, documentation. Reviews data collected with others to determine progress of mining operations.
- Continuously communicates with customers to address questions, ensure performance expectations are met and cost and efficiency controls are in place.
- Works with local management, blast crews, and others to improve techniques and services to optimize blast outputs.
- Attends meetings to capture technical issues and resolutions and participate in hazard reviews, investigation of blasting incidents or safety violations.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college degree program
- Position requires ability to pass a background check conducted by the ATF to possess and handle explosives.
- Ability to adhere to all safety requirements and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to collaborate and convey messages, instructions, and decisions in an effective, professional manner.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work effectively at multiple job sites over an 8 week period
Work Environment
- This position works on mine-site locations year-round in all weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to heavy equipment
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, bend, twist, climb on rough terrain with uneven surfaces for long periods of time.
- Work involves a variety of manual tasks to complete blasting operations.
