Job Description:
We are looking for a motivated Technical Security Specialist (L1) to join our security team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career and eager to gain hands-on experience in IT security. In this role, you will assist in monitoring and maintaining the security of our systems, responding to incidents, and working on security improvements across our infrastructure. This is the perfect role if you're passionate about IT and cybersecurity and want to grow your skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Security Systems: Track and analyze security alerts, logs, and events to detect potential threats, using security monitoring tools.
- Assist in Incident Response: Support the security team in responding to security incidents by gathering information, investigating causes, and helping with remediation efforts.
- User Access Management: Assist in the administration of identity and access management systems, including enforcing access controls and permissions (experience with Okta is a plus).
- Security Audits and Compliance: Participate in security audits and help ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards.
- Basic IT Security Support: Provide general support in configuring and maintaining security tools such as new devices, antivirus, and encryption solutions.
- Documentation: Help create and update documentation for security policies, incident responses, and system configurations.
- Collaboration: Work with IT, Engineering, and other teams to ensure systems are securely configured and maintained.
- Stay Informed: Keep up to date with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices to help enhance the organization's security posture.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate with a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic Security Knowledge: Understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts like firewalls, encryption, and authentication.
- IT Systems Experience: Familiarity with IT systems and network basics, including experience with Windows/Linux environments and basic troubleshooting.
- Identity Management: Exposure to identity and access management tools is a plus, especially with Okta and AWS IAM.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work well in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cloud Awareness: Basic knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure, though not required.
- Certifications (Optional): Any certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Okta Certified Professional, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP), or similar are a plus but not required.
- Basic Networking: Understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, VPN) to help identify and troubleshoot security issues.
Salary Range: 75-90k
