Responsibilities:
About The Role:
As a technical thought leader and subject matter expert for assigned business area, the Principal will be a key influencer to achieve strategic alignment and deliver business value. The Principal will work with leaders in the business segment to identify initiatives with high impact which drive the business strategy forward. The person in this role will be innovative and an avid promoter of process improvement in specific technical discipline using the appropriate methodologies to enhance productivity and performance of assigned business area. The Principal tends to be an established and recognized figure both internally and externally. This person will represent GM Financial in the broader community and serve as a de-facto ambassador for the organization. It will be important for the Principal to maintain a strong network in the community and represent GM Financial well.
- Influence projects and initiatives through technical expertise
- Work with a team of engineers to remediate vulnerabilities affecting multiple business units
- Generate, maintain, and report on vulnerabilities for each business unit and provide guidance on possible fixes
- Assist in automating vulnerability remediation across multiple platforms and applications
- Become a trusted and valued partner of department and business leaders by providing subject matter expertise, guidance and support
- Drive technical thought-leadership, acting as a change agent and advocate for new methodologies that enable higher levels of business agility and operational excellence
- Understand, communicate and commit to the team's vision, goals and strategies, translating vision to solutions while balancing risk, investment needs and fit for purpose
- Foster open communication that welcomes information sharing, seeks input from others and values diverse viewpoints
- Maintain a strong internal network by working across the business segment to foster a culture of trust, inclusion, engagement and integrity
- Help to drive cross-team solutions, anticipating and addressing problems ahead of the need by acting as a key influencer in assigned oversight areas
- Perform other duties as assigned

What Makes You A Dream Candidate?
- Experience with leading initiatives from start to finish
- Proven experience in .NET, Azure cloud, and Terraform with demonstrated accomplishments in implementing standards and best practices throughout the tech stack preferred
- Proven ability to mentor others and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in remediating vulnerabilities and ensuring robust security practices are implemented through an automated approach.
- Strong knowledge of business acumen and a deep understanding of business implications of decisions
- Strong understanding of company values, mission, vision and strategic direction
- Thorough knowledge of GM Financial’s business operations
- Recognized as a subject matter expert in area(s) of specialty
- Demonstrates relationship management skills and ability to influence others to achieve results by working across the business segment, being open to ideas and actively engaging others
- Ability to provide leadership through mentorship, influence, inspiration, collaboration and teamwork
- Demonstrates professional behavior in using logic, analysis and judgment when encountering challenges
- Ability to innovate and adopt new approaches, technologies and solutions
- Ability to establish strong working relationships and build trust with peers, cross-functional partners and related professional organizations
Experience:
- Associate Degree or High School Equivalent plus 2 additional years of related experience required
- Greater than 10 years in related function required
- 3-5 years leading through mentorship in related field required
- 3-5 years leading projects and initiatives through influence required
- Related certifications and/or licenses required required
- Member of and recommendation by accredited association in related field preferred
