About the Job
Job Title: Technical Project Manager ERP Implementation (Large-Scale Project)
Location: Chicago, IL (hybrid)
Overview: We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead a large-scale ERP implementation that will integrate with over 40 other applications. This is a long term contract (at least 2 years). The work will be done onsite one day a week. The rest will be work-from-home. Compensation is $90/hr W2.
This is a highly complex, technical role requiring a deep understanding of ERP systems, project management fundamentals, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business objectives. The ideal candidate will be self-aware, have strong communication skills, and possess a genuine curiosity about how things work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the ERP Implementation: Manage the end-to-end ERP implementation project, ensuring seamless integration with 40+ other applications, while overseeing project timelines, deliverables, and overall system performance.
- Coordinate Technical Efforts: Collaborate with multiple technical teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors to ensure alignment and integration across all systems involved in the implementation.
- Project Planning and Execution: Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and milestones using both Agile (epics, sprints, Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies, adapting as needed to deliver on schedule.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with various teams, ensuring effective communication, identifying risks, and resolving issues to keep the project moving forward. Regularly report on project status and performance to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Performance Monitoring: Oversee technical aspects of the ERP implementation, focusing on code complexities, system integrations, and ensuring overall system performance meets organizational goals.
- Documentation: Utilize tools like Confluence for documentation and knowledge sharing, ensuring that all project details, configurations, and processes are well documented.
- Utilize Jira for Project Tracking: Manage project tasks, epics, sprints, and track project progress using Jira, ensuring that all project teams are aligned with the overall goals and timelines.
- Problem Solving and Curiosity: Proactively identify potential obstacles, ask why, and work with technical teams to develop solutions that ensure the successful completion of the project.
- Hands-On Guidance: Provide guidance and support to various teams, hand-holding when necessary to ensure tasks are completed correctly and on time, and ensuring that the project reaches the finish line.
- Adaptability and Self-Awareness: Demonstrate self-awareness and adapt communication styles to different audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment across all involved parties.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7-10 years of experience as a Technical Project Manager, with a strong background in ERP implementations and integrations.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of ERP systems, with the ability to navigate code complexities and system integrations. Familiarity with the technical side of ERP solutions, and how they connect with other applications.
- Project Management Skills: Proven experience managing complex projects using both Agile (epics, sprints, Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies.
- Tools: Strong experience with Jira and Confluence for project tracking, task management, and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Curiosity and Problem-Solving: A natural curiosity to understand the "why" behind problems, not just the "what," and the ability to ask probing questions to find the best solutions.
- Collaboration: Experience working with multiple teams and stakeholders, capable of bringing together diverse groups to achieve project objectives.
- Self-Awareness: Ability to read the room, listen actively, and adapt approaches based on the dynamics of different teams and stakeholders.
- Energy and Drive: Demonstrates a high energy level and the ability to handle the demands of managing a large, complex project with many moving parts.
