Job Description:
As a Technical Sales Representative, you will play a crucial role in driving sales growth and building strong client relationships. Your responsibilities will include generating new sales opportunities, supporting monthly sales meetings, managing and expanding our contact list, advocating for client needs, developing a P&L that promotes positive cash flow, maintaining organized records, and contributing to annual and five-year strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in account management, sales, engineering, or program management within the Automotive industry
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field preferred
- Demonstrated success in business development or sales is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Positive attitude with a desire to learn
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Key Responsibilities:
Generate New Sales:
- Achieve annual sales targets by maintaining regular contact with customers and principals, cultivating strong relationships to drive sales.
- Travel and entertain as necessary to meet sales objectives.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities as outlined in annual goals.
- Prepare RFQs and cost breakdowns, ensuring proper documentation in SharePoint.
Support Monthly Sales Meetings and Update Data:
- Review and update monthly sales data to ensure accurate commission allocation for each Principal.
- Maintain and update 30-day goals and quote logs.
- Keep monthly updates on booked business, including production and capital projects.
- Prepare for and contribute to all monthly sales meetings, leading one to two meetings.
Maintain/Expand Contact List:
- Regularly update contact lists to enhance communication with existing and potential customers.
Champion Responsibility by Principal:
- Ensure Principal presentations are current and properly documented.
- Lead team updates to keep everyone informed with the latest information from each Principal.
- Build relationships with key personnel and support timely resolution of open commercial issues.
Manage Personal P&L:
- Oversee the entertainment budget to foster relationship development.
- Meet travel and other expenses necessary for business development.
Proper Record Keeping, Computer Skills, and Organization:
- Maintain organized Outlook files and OneDrive structure for efficient data access.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook).
Annual/5-Year Planning:
- Forecast line items for 1- and 5-year periods.
- Set annual goals and objectives to drive business growth.
- Conduct annual SWOT analysis for all major assigned accounts.
