Job description

DG specializes in the design and development of intelligent software and hardware protocol interface devices for the in-vehicle and controller area network markets, as well as a leader in vehicle cybersecurity standards and consulting for vehicle network engineering customers. We serve a broad range of industries including automotive, truck, bus, agricultural, construction, industrial-stationery and the Government.
DG is seeking a highly motivated individual with proven technical sales experience with an engineering background to be responsible for developing leads, establishing relationships with current and potential new customers and the ability to close deals, while collaborating with engineering and marketing departments to drive the DG brand sales forward.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prospect new clients and drive sales revenue while exceeding customer expectations.
- Contribute to the company’s planning of both long- and short-term business objectives, including periodic and annual sales forecasts and setting goals.
- Service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales opportunities.
- Develop account planning strategy to cultivate sales of customers with the most growth potential.
- Track all interactions with customers (prospective and existing) in Goldmine - customer database.
- Keep senior management informed by submitting weekly activity and results reports.
- Participate in regular meetings to present sales status of new and existing customer accounts.
- Make professional sales presentations & product demonstrations to audiences.
- Prepare and submit detailed proposals and quotations to customers.
- Maintain high levels of product and customer knowledge.
- Monitor competition and analyze competitor activity.
- Attend sales conferences and industry marketing events.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Three or more years of a proven and successful track record in technical sales.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering or a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding of vehicle communication systems and protocols used in the heavy-duty truck and automotive industry (CAN, J1708, J1850, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Understanding of basic transportation electronic technology or equivalent.
- Willingness to work with others as a team or independently as a sales person
- Organized, reliable and self-motivated
- Valid Driver’s License required, must be willing and able to travel
- U.S. citizen or legal permission for continuous employment in the U.S.
