What You'll Do
- Chart the Course: Drive the vision and strategy for SRC's training and technical documentation, exceeding client expectations with precision
- Craft Compelling Learning Journeys: Develop high-impact training materials for diverse audiences, employing industry best practices and ADDIE methodologies for optimal training effectiveness
- Empower Your Team: Mentor and enhance the capabilities of the technical writing team, enabling excellence in IETM formats and industry standards
- Decode DoD Standards: Seamlessly integrate DoD and industry technical standards into your technical documentation, ensuring compliance with MIL-STD 40051-1/2D, MIL-HDBK-1222D, etc.
- Embrace the Future of Learning: Champion the integration of technical manuals and training content with E-learning platforms and XML schemas, adhering to customer and industry specifications
- Build Strong Relationships: Collaborate effectively with domestic and international customers, guiding them through technical material reviews, validation/verification processes, and Logistics Demonstration events
- Lead by Example: Exemplify exceptional non-supervisory leadership and teamwork within our collaborative team. Craft accurate and persuasive budget estimates for documentation product business opportunities
Education and Experience:
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in a technical, technical writing, or training development discipline (or equivalent) AND 5+ years of experience in the DoD sector
- Alternative: An equivalent combination of education, training, and at least 5 years of relevant experience in similar technical industries
- Proven experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience creating high-quality technical writing or training materials, compliant with stringent standards like MIL-STD-38784 or similar
- Deep understanding of training material development and delivery methods compliant with ADDIE, SAT, or DoD training development methodologies
- Additional Expertise: Knowledge of or experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) using S1000D/MILSTD DTDs, Arbortext authoring, or SGML/XML software tools is a significant advantage
- Supervisory experience (optional): Prior experience overseeing and mentoring teams, including assigning work, conducting performance reviews, and engaging in project After Action Review activities, is a valuable asset
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects, quickly adapt to changing priorities, and meet tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial for collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard authoring tools like Arbortext, Captivate, Articulate, or similar, to produce high-quality unstructured and structured technical writing that adheres to a specified standard or style guide
- Software Proficiency: Strong command of Articulate 360 or similar e-Learning development SW, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Project, widely used in documentation and project management
- Hybrid work schedule: While some remote work flexibility is available, the role requires periodic physical presence at SRCTec facilities in Syracuse, NY, especially for DoD-related projects
- Must be eligible for a U.S. government security clearance

Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $80,000 to $93,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location as well as other business and organizational needs.
