We are looking for a detail-oriented, quick learner to join the Technical Communications team to create and maintain product labels and instruction manuals for CIVCO’s large breadth of products. Product labels and instruction manuals are utilized to communicate complex and technical information in a clear and concise manner, while meeting global medical device regulations. The Technical Writer works cross-functionally to gather information, create documents, and finalize publications prior to release.
Primary Location: United States (US) – Iowa- Coralville
Function: Technical Communications
Onsite/Remote: Preferred Onsite with eligibility for a hybrid work schedule
Your Responsibilities
As a Technical Writer at CIVCO, you will,
- Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Create high-quality documentation using the latest HTML and CSS standards.
- Design artwork for presentation in documentation.
- Process and release instructions and product labeling through change management software
- Proofread and peer review documentation.
- Coordinate instruction translations and product/service ordering.
- Manage external vendors for translations and printing.
- Participate in special projects as they arise in the department.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Minimum of an Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; preferred bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
What You Need:
- Attention to the details of a project or task is crucial to ensure your work is accurate and free of errors.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS. MadCap Flare authoring experience is desired, but not required.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely according to company standards and global standards.
- Strong communication skills, especially when working in cross-functional teams.
- The ability to give and accept constructive feedback between team members.
- Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to stay up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job.
- Regular attendance and face-to-face interaction with team members, peers and management is required for the ability to complete work and receive support.
- Participate with and communicate with cross-functional teams representing product Labeling.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Knowledge of MadCap Software programs.
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator software programs.
- Familiarity with Change Management Systems or experience with Windchill Change Management System.
