Job Summary:
Infinite Management Solutions (IMS) is currently seeking an outstanding, highly skilled Technical Writer & Editor to join our client delivery team. This individual will capture accurate and detailed documentation and create and revise technical documents such as manuals, reports, brochures, or articles to increase clarity, performance, and usability.
Responsibilities:
- Creates scientific and technology-related marketing and outreach materials for Client programs using word processing software and text management systems to edit and prepare copies for manuscripts and presentations
- Designs and produce articles, fact sheets, brochures, electronic products, and various collateral communications to reach and carry program successes to key departmental stakeholders in targeted areas
- Manages Departmental program’s promotional materials and repurposes marketing material content into several mediums (presentations, PDFs, etc.)
- Produces and publishes press releases and various other technical writing materials as well as webinars, short-form videos or podcasts for associated social media accounts
- Meets with engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific products or processes and determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements
- Stays up to date on best practices, new developments, and trends in assigned areas; attends trade shows, events, conferences deemed of interest and benefit to the program’s goals as required
- Creates and distributes online and print media kits that are consistent with the program’s key messaging and branding efforts
- Provides scientific and technology-related materials in electronic formats for production runs by the Client or relevant parties and maintains content calendar to manage key Client identified events
- Follows confidential guidelines, respects sensitive information, and ensures deliverables are shared and distributed compliantly
- Ensures publications are completed on time and within applicable budget constraints and keeps stakeholders apprised of progress
- Listens to audio and/or video recordings, as well as sits in on meetings, to produce written versions, ensuring accuracy in transcribed material
- Proofreads and edits publications according to specifications for style, tone, and length, while ensuring correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling to ensure submission of error free work
- Examines physical proofs of printed materials and assists creators with selecting and finalizing artwork, photography, and text for reproduction.
- Verifies articles, manuals, proposals, and other publications meet style, formatting, and general quality standards and confirms that publications meet customer specification
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Program Lead
Required Skills:
- Expertise in creating documents for XML authoring, development, and collaboration for technical manual development
- Outstanding knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint, etc.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and proven experience in Technical Writing (Writing Sample detailing client support outcome required)
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Highly developed writing, editing, and active listening skills
- Typing skills of no less than 60 WPM
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as Technical Writer or similar role
- Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related major preferred
- Meets U.S. citizenship and work eligibility requirements for federal contractors
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DOD) Secret level clearance, if required
