Your Impact
As a Technical Writer for our TASER, New Ventures, and Robotics team, you'll collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering to create content that promotes customer understanding of our products and services. You'll devise efficient content strategies and enable customer success through detailed documentation. We're seeking someone who is passionate about clear communication and ready to apply AI technologies to improve documentation process efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Write and update release notes, end-user, administrator, and developer documentation for Axon products.
- Build deep customer empathy and continually improve documentation based on customer feedback.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Product Design, Engineering, Customer Support, Training, Marketing, Account Management, and Sales.
- Perform content analysis and develop documentation plans for new features and products.
- Evangelize best practices for technical communications across Axon, including AI workflow enhancements.
- Partner with the training team to promote content reuse and efficient content and learning plans.
- Work in a content management system to create, review, and deliver our content to multiple platforms.
- Assist with documentation translation workflows and processes.
Location: Scottsdale or Seattle (preferred) or Scottsdale AZ, Atlanta GA, Boston MA - Hybrid (come onsite as needed)

Your Day-to-Day
As Technical Writer, you will:
- Use content authoring and other software to create, review, and deliver technical content to customers.
- Implement AI technologies to improve content development, from generating initial drafts to automating translation and improving quality control of documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to ensure that documentation reflects the latest software updates and user experience guidelines.
- Evangelize best practices for technical communication within cross-functional teams, promoting the efficient reuse of content and consistent style across documentation.
- Contribute to special initiatives, as needed.
What You Bring
- 3+ years experience in technical writing or related discipline (e.g., technical training, technical support).
- Demonstrated ability to write for diverse audiences, including non-technical end users, IT experts, and business decision-makers.
- Experience producing user documentation including installation guides, configuration guides, and online help. Related experience considered.
- Familiarity with producing materials across both hardware and software products preferred; prior expertise in one is a must.
- Strong working knowledge and application of style guides and industry practices.
- Strong experience with writing in HTML and markdown editors.
- Desired experience:
- Experience with law enforcement agencies, criminal justice, or other public safety organizations.
- Experience with cloud computing, networking, and related computer hardware.
- Experience writing and reviewing UX copy.
- Project management experience and/or certification.
- Prior experience with systems and tools used to create and deliver documentation.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 59,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 114,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
