Technician - Environmental - Nobis Engineering, Inc.

Nobis is looking for a Technician to provide asbestos inspection services at projects located primarily within Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Travel to other northeastern states may also be necessary from time to time. This position may also be asked to participate in environmental investigation or remedial action sampling programs located within the same geographic region.

The Candidate needs to understand and apply the relevant state and federal asbestos regulations during asbestos inspections of active, inactive, or abandoned structures of various sizes and complexities; execute sampling programs in accordance with established safety requirements (including personal protection equipment); identify suspected ACM and properly collect and document sampled media and prepare necessary sample shipment documents; interpret analytical results; and assist with technical report development. 

Candidate shall possess a minimum of a high-school diploma. Candidate must have at least 3 years of relevant asbestos inspection experience. Candidate must provide proof of initial training (and refresher training as necessary) indicating successful completion of the initial and refresher training requirements specified by 453 CMR 6.10(2), 6.10(4)(d), and/or 453 CMR 6.10(5). Candidate must possess a valid Massachusetts Certified Asbestos Inspector license. Candidate must be conversant with the Microsoft Office software. Candidate shall possess a valid driver’s license and own transportation.

Preferred Experience is for the candidate to possess an asbestos licensure/certification beyond the inspector-level and/or in other northeastern states. Those candidates in possession of a certification of completion of the OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training (with current 8-hour refresher as necessary), 8-hours of HAZWOPER supervisory experience (as required by OSHA), and OSHA 10-hour construction worker safety training are preferred. Experience with other environmental sample collection is preferred, as well as experience with implementing and monitoring safety awareness and safe work practices.
