About the Department:
The College of Visual and Performing Arts embraces a vibrant community of artists actively learning, teaching, practicing and creating a wide variety of art forms. Through our seven academic programs, two performing arts centers, and a community arts school, we educate the artists of tomorrow and inspire people of all ages to engage in the arts as creators, consumers, and citizens. The College comprises of over 1,400 arts majors, 9,000 students enrolled per year, undergraduates and graduate programs. The College includes the School of Dance, the School of Music, the School of Theater, the School of Art, the Film and Video Studies Program, and the Computer Game Design Program.
About the Position:
The Technician I acts under the supervision of the Director of Technology and Security to provide technical assistance to computer users including faculty and staff. Additional duties will include providing classroom support and technical support for classrooms and staff computers. Other duties are as assigned by the Director of Technology and Security.

Responsibilities:
The prospective employee will be asked to perform the following duties on a daily basis:
- Install software, troubleshoot applications, configure computers and peripherals. Diagnose and resolve basic and advanced software and hardware issues;
- Support classroom AV systems, printers, projectors, and other technical equipment. Set up, upgrade, troubleshoot, and image computer systems running Windows 10/11 and macOS;
- Understand computer systems, mobile devices and other technical systems;
- Install, configure and maintain classroom technologies including projectors, control panels, TVs and Apple peripherals such as iPads, iPhones, and Apple TVs;
- Install, replace, and configure computer hardware such as storage drives, RAM, expansion cards, motherboards, processors, displays, and peripherals, etc.;
- Create and manage user accounts/permissions, and enforce security best practices; and
- Troubleshoot and report network connection issues. Set up network access with users and install applications for file sharing, cloud computing, and security.
- Three years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in technical field;
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and advanced knowledge of Windows and Apple Mac platforms;
- Proven track record of servicing Mac OS systems built with Intel chips and the new silicon chips;
- Experience setting up Apple computers;
- Proven track record of servicing Windows 10 and 11 O/S systems; experience imaging Windows computers;
- Experience installing and maintaining AV systems for classrooms;
- Computer Help Desk experience; and
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working in Information Technology.
- A Master's degree in a computing field preferred;
- Previous experience in computer labs management including JAMF registration and systems management and SCCM;
- Understanding of IT security concepts with an emphasis on information security and risk assessment and enforces security best practices;
- Understanding of Web 2.0 applications and licensing agreements for Higher Education; and
- Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
