Technician mid-level experience (II) - Acoustical, Cortland, NY

Intertek, a leading provider of ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection, and Certification) Services, is looking for a Technician with experience to join our Acoustical team in Cortland, NY.

Intertek's Electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification for a variety of electric products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission and distribution. What are we looking for?

The Technician is responsible for performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product performance/safety standards.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $21 - $25 per hour . Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:

• Setting up test apparatus, install unit or equipment
• Operating equipment
• Maintaining equipment and facilities
• Preparing test samples, connecting valves, ductwork, thermocouples, pumps, gauges (for refrigerant or water pressure), hydraulic, mechanical, or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, indicating instruments
• Obtaining and recording test data in accordance with standards
• Performing basic analysis of test data and routine calculations
• May draft technical reports
• May extract and compile engineering data
• May prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures
• May make recommendations regarding technical decisions relating to the interpretation and applicability of test standards
• May communicate with clients and management
• Performing other work as required

MinimumRequirements & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
• Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
• Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Professional certificate in related field or associate degree in engineering or other technology
• Electrical or Mechanical experience
• Technical experience with HVAC products, motors, and general household appliances
