About the Job
The Oncology Technician assists the oncologists with daily rounds and clinic appointments, coordinates and handles chemotherapy treatments (including calculating dosages, preparation and administration of chemotherapeutic agents, and post-treatment monitoring), and assists the oncologists with diagnostic procedures (some requiring sedation, and occasionally general anesthesia). The oncology technician also assists with client communication regarding in-hospital and outpatient cases, helps with all facets of paperwork, including treatment records and requisitions, and schedules outpatient and admission appointments. Responsibilities also include stocking supplies and maintaining the work area (chemo treatment room, hood, etc.), and completing any additional tasks or duties that may be assigned as needed by the Clinic Services Manager or Supervisors. The oncology technician works closely with the veterinary staff, as well as Client Services, Clinic Services and other Patient Services staff members when needed. Must be able to lift 30 to 50 pounds without assistance.
Prerequisite: Credentialed technicians are required for this position; Associate Degree or higher is encouraged
Hours: Tuesdays – Fridays 7:30AM – 6:30PM
Salary: Commensurate with experience
