Location Requirement : 100% Remote. Preferably within commutable distance to the office and able to visit the office 4 to 6 times a year. If not within commutable distance, then should be able to visit the office 4 times a year at own expense.
The Technology & Innovation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and deploying innovative and complex technology solutions for the firm. Evaluate new/emerging technologies of interest to the firm and develop proof of concepts and pilot solutions. Technology & Innovation Engineer is a key player in firm's Digital transformation as part of the Innovation & Core Technology development team. This position is expected to be versatile and be enthusiastic to tackle new problems as the firm continues to push technology forward to expand our leadership in SDO domain.
This Technology & Innovation Engineer works closely with the architecture, Business Development and Product Management and Delivery to bring technology innovation from ideas to proof of concepts. They will enable digital transformation and expand the firm's leadership in the SDO domain by evaluating new/emerging technologies and implementing proof of concepts. This role will provide systematic analysis of the most complex technology requirements and resolves any functional problems encountered. Will develop pilot / proof of concepts to evaluate new/emerging technologies.
They collaborate with both business and technology partners to ensure that proposed business and technical solutions align with the firm's overall mission and vision.
This position reports to the Chief Enterprise Architect.
Responsibilities :- Investigate new / emerging technologies, innovations and opportunities
- Implement proof of concepts for new / emerging technologies
- Design, develop and deploy complex core (foundational) technology solutions, align with business strategies and objectives
- Present innovation / concepts to business and technology stake holders
- Bring a passion to remain current and stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies
- Understand the complexity of both the organization's business capabilities and technology environment
- Design & implement APIs and microservices in AWS
- Must be capable of working in a collaborative, multi-site environment to support rapid development and delivery of results and capabilities (i.e., Agile SDLC)
- Work cross-functionally with both business and IT stakeholders
- Define best practices in core software development and enable development teams to leverage best practices
- Advise on potential disruptive technologies and trends
- Participate in digital strategy decisions
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (Computer Science)
- 7+ years' experience in progressively responsible information technology solution development and design
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working as a backend developer in Java / Springboot
- 3+ years of experience architecting solutions leveraging Microservices architecture.
- 5+ years experience in designing and implementing complex holistic, secure, highly available and scalable technology solutions spanning multiple technology platforms and applications.
- 5+ years experience architecting integrated solutions leveraging Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) integration tools and/or custom developed integration frameworks.
- Experience implementing technology solutions in cloud platforms (AWS).
- Strong understanding & experience with relational databases and NoSQL databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, MarkLogic, etc. Experience writing stored procedures, triggers etc. and working with large data sets.
- Well versed with development toolkits like Gradle, GIT, Bitbucket, Jenkins - continuous Integration suites, JIRA and Confluence.
- Understanding of common information architecture frameworks and information models
- Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs
- Experience implementing secure and optimal technological solutions and architectures impacting critical areas of the business
- Strong communication and persuasion skills
- Ability to analyze solution needs, and determine the resources needed to achieve objectives
- Presentation and facilitation skills
- Effective conceptualization, pattern recognition and teaming skills
- Strong understanding of software, architecture frameworks, and corporate technology and trends (e.g., SOA, Microservices, IOT, ETL, cloud architectures, AI, RPA, Cognitive automation).
- Experience or good understanding of architecture and design required to develop multi-tenant SaaS products.
- Experience scaling and extending consumer facing solutions
- Ability to present and communicate both business and technical concepts
- Ability to think critically and solve problems
- Strong consultative skills at a cross-functional level
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to independently drive resolution of issues and challenges and shape your own work based on the unique demands of your specific responsibilities.
