Summary
The Technology Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's technological infrastructure, ensuring that systems are efficient, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops/maintain information technology strategies.
- Manages staff and coordinates/oversees activities of Managed Service Provider. Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Researches and implements technological strategic solutions.
- Plans, monitors, and appraises job results. Coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees.
- Initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining and delivering strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
- Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.
- Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.
- Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.
- Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
- Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Designs, develops, tests, implements, monitors, and maintains software and data in a systematic method.
- Develops an awareness of upstream and downstream system interactions and dependencies.
- Drives operational efficiency and manageability through use of best practices (end-to-end ownership)
- Participates in development of mockups, models, simulations, functional capabilities to support user engagement, interaction, and feedback.
- Schedules jobs to provide required operational support.
- Finds solutions to problems while balancing quality, speed, and costs.
- Provides ideas on how technology can improve business processes.
- Tracks, identifies, and reports issues that may affect solution quality and bring forward improvement recommendations.
- Understands data within a line of business and able to identify actionable insights.
- Monitors and manages the strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management program
- Assists facilitating risk assessment and risk management processes.
- Reviews/monitors for potential system breaches, alerts from information security tools, and assist with investigation and resolution of security incidents.
- Applies knowledge of network and systems to ensure optimal security.
- Coordinates and provides expert technical support to enterprise-wide cyber defense technicians to resolve cyber defense incidents
- Coordinates incident response functions
- Performs cyber defense trend analysis and reporting
- Receives and analyzes network alerts from various sources within the enterprise and determine possible causes of such alerts.
- Writes and publishes cyber defense techniques, guidance, and reports on incident findings to appropriate constituencies.
- Travels between southeast office locations up to 25% of the time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field prefered.
- 3-5 years of experience working with security and network systems required.
- CISSP certification, Sec+ or equivalent a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates and "automation first" mentality that improves quality and efficiency.
- Develops a fundamental understanding of underlying architectures and how they relate to solution needs.
- Awareness of the operating characteristics (e.g. security, performance, scalability, manageability) of solutions and is accountable for supporting those requirements.
- Demonstrates an understanding of data structures.
- Leverages and anticipate modern technologies, e.g. AI/ML, to support full stack proficiency.
- Interprets meaning through the identification and study of patterns in environment and/or data.
- Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, and NIST.
- Knowledge of OSI model and underlying network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP)
- Demonstrates understanding of key networking technologies (LAN/WAN, data center switching and routing, extranet) to build, optimize and support high availability networks.
- Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth)
- Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services
- Understands end-user technologies to identify common security issues and vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge of incident categories, incident responses, and timelines for responses
- Knowledge of incident response and handling methodologies
- Knowledge of cyber attackers (e.g., script kiddies, insider threat, non-nation state-sponsored, and nation sponsored)
- Knowledge of different classes of attacks (e.g., passive, active, insider, close-in, distribution attacks)
- Knowledge of cyber attack stages (e.g., reconnaissance, scanning, enumeration, gaining access, escalation of privileges, maintaining access, network exploitation, covering tracks)
- Specific experience in Agile (scaled) software development or other best in class development practices.
- A self-starter who regularly demonstrates initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level of personal integrity
- Attention to detail and the ability to plan and organize accordingly.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
