The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department within the School of Medicine with 330 full-time faculty members, 460 courtesy faculty members, and over 350 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department's highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department's robust research portfolio totals $67 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. Other areas of excellence include Addictions, Autism, High Risk Youth, Neurosciences, and Trauma, and the Department is developing innovative new programs in Technology and Mental Health, Global Mental Health, Maternal and Child Mental Health, and Targeted Intervention Development. Psychiatry is the third largest department in the School of Medicine and the largest non-divisioned department. The overall annual operations funding from all sources is over $130 million.
**The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine currently has an outstanding opportunity for an 80% FTE Technology Transfer Specialist.** **POSITION PURPOSE**
The Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (ADAI) is a multidisciplinary research institute in the University of Washington School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. The Institute's staff of clinical and social psychologists, epidemiologists, public health experts, and information specialists work to improve our understanding and reduce the harm caused by alcohol and drug use. Our mission is to advance research, policy, and practice in order to improve the lives of individuals and communities affected by alcohol and drug use and addiction.
Located at ADAI since 2017, the Northwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Northwest ATTC) is one of ten regional centers comprising SAMHSA's National ATTC Network. The Northwest ATTC mission is to strengthen the addiction workforce in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington through the provision of technical assistance-encompassing educational and consultative services for health organizations and the workforce members they employ-to accelerate the adoption and implementation of useful treatment and recovery practices.
This position works with many community partners within a four-state region comprised of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Some regional travel is required. This position is included in a federal grant to UW from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. This position plays a key role in meeting goals and deliverables associated with the grant.
Periodic travel within the state and region. Operates within a telecommuting environment. The position contributes to a team that works remotely and serves the noted four-state region.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Plans and coordinates technical assistance provided by staff and contractors and delivers technical assistance in areas of demonstrated subject matter expertise or clinical experience. (60%)
+ Actively collaborates to support the efforts of the Northwest ATTC Indigenous Communities Advocate, Communication Specialist, an Evaluator.(10%)
+ Assists the Project Coordinator in representing the Northwest ATTC at regional workgroups and consortia within HS Region states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, including meetings with representatives of the Single-State Authorities to develop regional and state-specific projects and activities.(10%)
+ Assists the Project Coordinator in maintaining an inter-state, multi-disciplinary network of project collaborators, and establishes relations with other regional technical assistance efforts.(5%)
+ Contributes to the review of Northwest ATTC products and marketing materials.(5%)
+ Serves as a member of the national ATTC network workgroups and other SAMHSA-based national and regional working groups that develop tools and products to support ATTC network activities or promote regional collaboration with other technical assistance centers.(5%)
+ Represents Northwest ATTC at regional and state conferences.(5%)Lead Responsibilities
+ This Position will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of time-limited activities such as training workshops, learning series, conference presentations, and Project ECHO contributions. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor's degree in public health, health services, social work, psychology, nursing, education.
+ Three years of education and/or experience in clinical supervision or professional-level work related to substance use disorder treatment, training, or agency administration. The experience must have included at least two years of clinical training and experience in direct delivery of health services for persons with substance use disorders. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Experience as a health services educator, trainer, and/or organizational consultant for persons with substance use disorder is preferred.
+ Knowledge of federal agency programs, institutional policies and procedures, and familiarity with states and partner institutions in Health and Human Services Region 10.
+ Knowledge of useful treatment and recovery practices in the addiction field, and comfort applying recommended educational strategies (i.e. clinical demonstration, performance-based feedback, case consultation) for increasing adoption and implementation of such practices.
+ Experience in working with individuals from diverse populations and varied backgrounds.
+ Skills implementing complex projects, consultation and meeting facilitation; oral and written communication, report preparation, and general application of institutional policies and procedures. **Application Process:** The application process may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
