As the Teen Program Leader for Link@The Y, you will design and engage youth in activities that focus on the YMCA's key areas of spirit, mind and body. To succeed in this job, prior experience among diverse populations and working or volunteering with children or teens in a developmental setting will put you ahead of the game. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and you must be 21 years of age or older. The hours for this role are Monday-Friday from 3pm-7:30pm.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain standards and regulations as determined by YMCA policies and/or Bright from the Start for unlicensed childcare programs.
- Ensure youth are safe, accounted for, and supervised in a healthy environment.
- Understand and apply emergency procedures as well as communicate potential risk exposures to supervisors.
- Develop lesson/activity plans based on program curriculum.
- Implement program activities according to set schedule.
- Attend staff meetings and required trainings set forth by the YMCA and/or Bright from the Start.
- Manage activities in a manner conducive to the needs teens who are at risk.
- Maintain consistent and positive communication with parents and teens.
- Recruit and maintain adequate supplies and volunteer resources needed for activities.
- Use only positive discipline techniques when needed
- Assist in the collection of data and tracking of program outcomes.
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings, in various temperatures. Walking, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, lifting, bending, crouching required. May lift up to 50 pounds.
