York Hospital in York, Maine is looking for a full-time, 36 hour/week, 2 - 12 hour days with variable shifts from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm and 1 - 12 hour night, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am., Telemonitor Technician. The Monitor Technicians are responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RN s and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. This is a 13 week assignment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains ongoing, high-level surveillance of patients cardiac rhythms and notifies nursing clinicians of any rate/rhythm changes according to clinician/provider orders.
Collection of data necessary for placement of telemetry
Measures and interprets patients heart rhythm and documents on patient record per department standards. of intervals for strip documentation
Ectopy checks twice per shift
Daily telemetry box maintenance
Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providers. Uses clear and complete communication with the unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.
Accurate charging of telemetry, chart maintenance
EKG procedures.
The Monitor Technician maintains the highest standards of practice in the clinical setting and is responsible for creating exceptional patient/family experiences during the delivery of this care.
Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge. Performs configuration as necessary.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED
Successful completion of York Hospital Clinical and Professional Development Dysrhythmia Course and EKG exam prior to completion of orientation.
BLS certified
Acquires and maintains ongoing education in the field of practice.
EXPERIENCE
Two years experience monitoring ECG/Dysrhythmia in a physician s office, clinic, hospital, or similar setting required.
SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of basic anatomy /physiology of the heart.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and the general public.
Ability to work under moderate pressure for extended periods of time.
Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergent and non-emergent requests.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee frequently is required to stand and walk and is occasionally required to sit. The employee is required to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with arms and legs.
