Cox's Outside Plant Engineering & Construction department is responsible for building the network of the future our customers rely on for both residential and business needs. As a Telecom Construction Planner, you will be a pivotal member of an exciting high energy team. The Construction Planner serve as the primary owner and facilitator of our network construction activities. The Construction Planner plans, coordinates, constructs, builds, repairs, and inspects Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks to provide voice, video, and data to residential and commercial customers. Coordinates with other utilities for permits, joint trench, pole applications, and service issues. Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the construction project are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner in accordance with Cox specifications. This role requires a high level of professional interaction with co-workers, homeowners, customers and other utility entities. This is a 12-month W2 contract assignment with the opportunity for contract extension or to transition to a permanent, full-time role based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the Construction Planner:

• Manage and oversee completion of various project types including Cox Business coax/fiber extensions, residential coax extensions, repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Plan, coordinate, manage, and complete tasks, ensuring adherence to the Master Contract Agreement and Cox specifications.
• Communicate project status updates and ensure timely completion of projects.
• Coordinate permits, pole applications, joint-trench, and make-ready for utility poles in compliance with NESC code and local requirements.
• Estimate project expenses, manage project spend, and review/approve final invoicing.
• Perform field estimates, site surveys, pre-engineering, build coordination, and quality control.
• Ensure cost-effective designs for construction while future-proofing the network.
• Manage customer interactions, site walk-throughs, and access for contract labor.
• Coordinate with public works, developers, customers, building owners, and utilities on projects.
• Update stakeholders on timeline revisions and project status, and track expenses on construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications of the Construction Planner:

• HS diploma, GED or relevant work experience
• Minimum 1 or more year of experience in related field (ie. Construction Planning or Network Operations) with a Telecommunications company
• Valid Drivers’ License and reliable transportation to drive between work sites (Mileage reimbursement offered)
• Requires strong knowledge of applications such Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Excellent technical skills related to coordinating work and time & cost estimation.
• Demonstrated ability to establish/develop project planning and execution.
• Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and/or to meet deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization. Strong written and verbal skills.
• Must be self-motivated and enjoy a challenging fast paced work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications of the Construction Planner:

• Familiarity with Workflow And Task Tracking Systems (WATTS)
• Basic knowledge of the HFC and Fiber Plant to include: understanding of the telecom infrastructure, how service is provided; fiber to node; power supply and trunk knowledge
• Experience in telecommunications industry desired.
• Familiarity / Exposure to reading civil engineering maps.
