The Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) mission is to provide the war-fighter with knowledge superiority by developing, delivering, and maintaining effective, capable, and integrated command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. Serco’s C4ISR mission support encompasses Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), Information Technology (IT) systems, Electronic Security Systems (ESS), and other electronic systems.
Serco performs C4ISR installation services at shore facilities, on towers, piers, platforms, mobile systems, and special purpose vehicles. C4ISR installation services includes both decommissioning and modernization of existing facilities as well as installation design and installation of integrated C4ISR systems at new shore facilities.
As an Telecommunications Technician (Entry Level), you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications systems, including phone lines, internet connections, and CAT6 and fiber optic data networks. Additionally, you will be required to extensively travel in support of the Department of Defense customers across the United States and around the world.
In this role, you will:
- Set up hardware, running cables, diagnosing technical issues, and performing routine maintenance.
- Troubleshoot service disruptions, assisting with network upgrades, and providing support to senior technicians.
- Install and terminate CAT6, fiber optic, and other transmission cabling
- Perform general labor including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving supplies and materials
- Install cable tray, communications cabinets, and perform grounding/bonding IAW BICSI standards
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- United States Citizenship
- The ability to obtain and maintain a United States passport
- A High School Diploma/GED
- The ability to work 40+ hours per week, as required
- The ability to travel up to 75% or more; CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required
- The ability to operate commonly used hand tools and installation test equipment
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn technical procedures.
- Possess the ability to climb ladders and lift and carry items weighing ~50 lb
- Willingness to work in different environments (indoor/outdoor)
